Inspired by her father and a desire to help others, Siosiana Maile is working towards her dream by volunteering at Polyfest.
Siosiana Maile, who aspires to become a police officer, is making a positive impact in her community by volunteering at Polyfest.
Originally from Tonga, Maile is currently training for a career in the police force at MSL Training in Manukau.
“I’m here with my team, we’re part of the future police officers,” Maile says.
“Polyfest has asked us to volunteer to help them [school students] around and build our portfolio with the community so we can experience how things are on the job when we get recruited.”
Maile’s passion for policing comes from her wish to bring about positive change.
Inspired by her father and motivated by a lifelong goal to help others, she wants to make her community safer and more supportive.
“When I was in primary school, I’ve always wanted to make a difference, may not be big, but just make a difference in the community because I’ve seen a lot of things with police officers,” Maile says.
“Another reason was because of my father. I wanted to make him proud and the rest of my family because I see myself as a kind person.
“I love giving a hand to anyone at all that needs help,” Maile says.

While Maile has never performed at Polyfest, she values the opportunity to see different cultures celebrated and appreciated.
“I’m always supportive. I love the environment. Seeing different cultures, different faces from different backgrounds, it really hits the heart,” Maile says.
With a clear purpose, Maile is committed to her goal of becoming a police officer.
Through her volunteer work at Polyfest and her dedication to the community, she is already making a difference – one step at a time.
