About PMN
Pacific Media Network (PMN) is Aotearoa New Zealand's national Pacific media organisation, serving diverse Pacific communities through radio, digital, language and news platforms.

PMN is refreshing its Auckland headquarters and seeks an interior designer to help create a workplace that reflects Pacific identity, values, creativity and storytelling while supporting a modern and collaborative work environment.

PMN strongly encourages proposals from Pacific designers, Pacific-led studios, or teams with demonstrated experience working alongside Pacific artists, cultural practitioners and communities.

Project Background

A landlord-led refurbishment is currently underway, including:

- New carpet tiles

- LED lighting upgrades

- Ceiling tile replacement

- Kitchen refresh

- Bathroom upgrades

The successful consultant will work within these base-building improvements to create a cohesive interior design and cultural identity for the PMN workspace.

No structural alterations or consent-related works are required.

Scope of Services

The successful consultant will provide:

1. Design Direction

- Develop a design concept and visual identity for the workplace.

- Recommend colour palettes, feature walls, materials and finishes.

- Ensure the space feels warm, welcoming, contemporary and authentically Pacific.

2. Furniture & Styling

- Curate and source commercial-grade furniture and soft furnishings.

- Provide recommendations for:

- Lounge seating and couches

- Kitchen and breakout seating

- Ottomans and collaborative spaces

- Reception and visitor areas

- Prepare a furniture specification and procurement schedule.

3. Pacific Cultural Integration

- Develop a clear Pacific design narrative for the office.

- Recommend opportunities for Pacific artwork, cultural storytelling and language integration.

- Ensure cultural elements are authentic, contemporary and reflective of the communities PMN serves.

4. Workplace Features

- Recommend placement of three wall-mounted screens designated for video conferencing and media displays.

- Provide ideas for meeting room naming, wayfinding, cultural displays and visitor experience.

Budget

Item: Interior Design Fees
Budget: $5,000-$15,000 + GST

Item:Furniture, Artwork & Styling
Budget: $25,000-$50,000 + GST

Proposal Requirements

Please provide a response of no more than 4 pages including:

Relevant Experience: Examples of workplace, community, creative or culturally focused projects.

Design Approach: Briefly describe how you would approach this project and create a workplace that reflects PMN's identity.

Pacific Cultural Capability: Outline your experience working with Pacific communities, artists or cultural advisors.

Fee Proposal: Provide a proposed fee, scope of services and key deliverables.

Mandatory Eligibility & Financial Viability (Pass/Fail): To be considered for this engagement, respondents must meet the following mandatory requirement on a Pass/Fail basis. Failure to meet this requirement will result in immediate disqualification prior to qualitative evaluation

Financial Solvency: The respondent must be a financially solvent and stable legal entity. Proposals will not be accepted from any business or entity that is currently in liquidation, receivership, statutory management, voluntary administration, subject to a proposal under insolvency laws, or currently undergoing any formal corporate restructuring or bankruptcy proceedings.

By submitting a proposal, the respondent certifies that no insolvency proceedings have commenced or are pending against their business.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be assessed against:

- Understanding of PMN and the project vision (25%)

- Quality of design approach (25%)

- Pacific cultural capability and experience (25%)

- Relevant workplace design experience (15%)

- Value for money (10%)
