Road to Paris: PMN announces official Olympics correspondent

As part of our Paris 2024 Olympics coverage, PMN has acquired the talented James Nokise as our official Olympics correspondent. Nokise will be on the ground in Paris, following our Pacific athletes competing at the games.

Nokise’s coverage is proudly brought to you by the Pasifika Medical Association Group, and he joined Pacific Mornings from Scotland, before he heading to Paris.

“I’m really passionate about Pacific sport!

“I’m passionate to see not just our well known Pacific athletes, but our lesser known athletes from the smaller nations who will be competing on that world stage.”

Nokise, who is widely known as a comedian and broadcaster, will lace up his sports reporting boots overlooking a range of Pacific athletes and sports.

“I made a wonderful podcast series with PMN and RNZ called ‘Fair Game Pacific Rugby Against the World’ which got me in as a correspondent for the Rugby World Cup in France.

“I also write a national column for Stuff and I’ve done articles and columns for He Tangata, Radio New Zealand and the Coconet as well.

“It’s not exactly the stand up comedy people are used to seeing me with my friend Tofiga, but it’s definitely a fun adventure!”

Nokise will head to Paris tomorrow, ahead of the Rugby Sevens which is the first sport to kick off at the games. The first match is Samoa vs Australia on Thursday morning.

“The Sevens are the first major sports event. Obviously with the Rugby World Cup that’s just happened, it’s a big rugby nation. There’s a lot to prove as well!

“Fiji are not the favorites, despite being defending gold medalists. But between Fiji and Samoa, there’s a of pride on the line.

“As we all know, when our Pacific teams are focused, they can do very amazing things.”
