The funeral's taking place this morning of pioneering Polynesian Panther Miriama Rauhihi Ness.

A founding member of the Polynesian Panthers says Miriama Rauhihi Ness should be remembered for advancing the cause of both Pasifika and Maori.
The pioneering activist is being farewelled this morning after losing a short battle with cancer.
Miriama Rauhihi Ness was a member of the Polynesian Panthers and Nga Tamatoa movements, fighting for both Maori and Pasifika rights in New Zealand.
Former Polynesian Panther Will 'Ilolahia says Rauhihi Ness led the land march, organised the petition for te reo, the foreshore and several other things, and was always on the frontline.
Rauhihi, who was 69, was married to Niuean singer-activist Tigilau Ness and her son is hip hop star Che Fu.
