Pacific Mornings host William Terite is stepping down for a new role at ABC News Australia, reflecting on PMN News’ legacy, growth, and future.
I wanted to let you know that I have decided to step down from my role as the host of this great show and the reason for that is to pursue a new opportunity with ABC News in Australia.
It wasn't an easy decision to make, don't get me wrong. The job that I have now is an absolute dream job. The changes that have been made and the work that we're doing here at PMN News and indeed Pacific Media Network, in general, has been nothing short of amazing.
It's been great to witness from the sidelines and see the growth of the team that I get to work with every day. But with that being said, when the opportunity came to me to join ABC in Australia, ultimately it was a hard one to pass on.
Since I started in this job, it's been a real effort to bring you news that our people can be proud of. I wanted to deliver a show for our community that could rival what mainstream networks are doing and I think that we are succeeding - I genuinely do.
Every day since I've started in this role, I've wanted to bring you the names and the people that shape the decisions that ultimately affect your life. So, you can see the growth since we started.
We're talking to Cabinet ministers several times a week, putting tough questions to the very people that make decisions on your behalf. I'm confident that the foundation has been laid to ensure that this show continues to go from strength to strength beyond me, because I'm merely just a face.
The massive team behind me, that's the real work. It has been an immense privilege to host this show, and although we've still got some time before we say goodbyes, I'd like to thank senior management for trusting me, this 23-year-old, at the time of starting this show, to deliver a news product that we could be proud of.
It is no easy task going up against other major morning news networks. In that respect, I’m fully grateful to the opportunities that this organisation has given me.
This is just the start of what's going to be something great at PMN, and it is a privilege to have been a very, very small part of the fabric of this organisation.
That's Will's Word.
