In a move set to put the country on the global tourism map, travel traders will gather in the heart of the Pacific.
Fiji has announced that its Tourism Exchange (FTE) will return next year to unite the global travel trade, media, and local tour operators from the Pacific region.
Scheduled for 27 and 28 March, the event aims to create valuable business connections and share knowledge while showcasing the unique tourism experiences that Fiji has to offer.
Organisers expect 147 international buyers and media representatives, as well as 84 local companies, to join forces to hold over 4300 business meetings, with more than 500 attendees expected.
In a move set to put Fiji on the global tourism map, Tourism Fiji says the event promises to create a space where important connections can be formed.
It says this has been vital in promoting Fiji's tourism and establishing the country as a must-visit destination for travellers.
Robert Thompson, the Executive Head of Regions at Tourism Fiji, says the 2026 exchange will also focus on sustainability and offering authentic experiences.
“FTE has always been about creating meaningful connections between our tourism industry and the global travel trade,” Thompson told the Islands Business magazine.
Travel and Tour World reports that the 2025 Tourism Exchange will highlight sustainability, reflecting its growing importance in the tourism industry worldwide.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn how Fiji leads in responsible tourism through eco-friendly practices and sustainable development.

This focus on sustainability is expected to attract environmentally-conscious travellers who prefer destinations that align with their values.
Fiji will also showcase its authentic cultural experiences. With stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and friendly locals, travellers will have opportunities to engage deeply with the island's heritage.
From traditional crafts to lively cultural festivals, attendees will gain insight into what makes Fiji so special and different from other tourist spots.
The event will serve as a key platform for tour operators to present their unique Fijian experiences to a wider audience.
The effort extends beyond just luxury accommodations, allowing travellers to connect with the community and environment in significant ways.

The Tourism Exchange will act as a bridge connecting global travel professionals with Fiji’s tourism sector. It will provide numerous networking opportunities, essential for expanding Fiji's presence in the global tourism market.
With such a diverse group of international attendees, the event is expected to be a melting pot of ideas and collaboration.
Business networking will be a central part of the event, with over 4300 meetings planned. These gatherings will offer a fantastic chance for everyone involved to explore new partnerships, discuss strategies, and enhance the overall tourism offerings in the region.
As the event draws nearer, Tourism Fiji will provide more details about the programme, registration, and exciting new activities that will be introduced.
As the tourism industry recovers after the pandemic, the 2026 Tourism Exchange will play a vital role in establishing Fiji as a leading travel destination, with a focus on sustainable practices and genuine experiences.
Thompson says the announcement reflects Fiji’s ongoing commitment to growing and sustaining its tourism sector.
With travel on the rise worldwide, the exchange presents an excellent opportunity for the country to showcase its strengths and create new collaborative opportunities.
It also highlights the importance of tourism to Fiji’s economy and its role in connecting the islands to the rest of the world.
The Tourism Exchange promises to be a landmark event, marking Fiji's return to the global tourism stage with a strong focus on sustainability and authentic experiences.
