Pacific couple celebrate 10 years of success in entertainment and events industry

Trevor and Elizabeth Palupe-Grant are proud parents of four daughters and the directors of their premier events company, Limelight DJ & Entertainment.

What started as a love story has evolved into a successful journey for this dynamic duo in the events and entertainment industry.

Trevor, of Sāmoan and Fijian heritage, and Elizabeth, from Niue, share their journey in launching the inaugural New Zealand Wedding Vendor Awards (NZWVA) Showcase and Gala this August.

Elizabeth recalls her first meeting with Trevor at the University of Auckland.

“I graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching in Education,” Elizabeth says in an interview with Island Time host, Tofiga Fepulea’i.

“I graduated, originally going into primary school, born and raised in Auckland. But my path and our lives took a little turn when we decided to have our four beautiful children.

“So I went into ECE, and I’ve been in ECE for a couple of years since our second (child), coming up eight years now.

“It’s been a real blessing, and then Trevor graduated, and he’s put us on this beautiful path in this industry,” Elizabeth says.

When the opportunity arose, they took the chance and never looked back. “We’ve been doing it since 2015,” Trevor says.

“At the time, I was working for a DJ agency, and the owners were looking to sell up, and so we both had a discussion about it, and we took the leap of faith.”

“We went into it and said, we’ll look at purchasing it and then just adding a bit of a different twist on what they used to provide.

From humble beginnings, the company started with only four team members and has since grown to over 25 members, spread across Aotearoa, with a primary presence in Auckland, Tauranga, and Wellington.

“Ever since, we’ve been able to grow our books of entertainers and DJs along the way, which has been really good,” Trevor says.

Now celebrating its 10th year running, the ambitious couple is set to launch their first Wedding Vendors Showcase and Gala in Tāmaki Makaurau.

“It’s a celebration of the very best wedding vendors across the motu and within different communities,” Elizabeth says.

She adds that the event is also an excellent opportunity for vendors to connect and network, as well as for couples across Aotearoa to discover “the best of the best”.

The NZWVA Showcase and Gala will feature 19 award categories that cover key aspects of the wedding industry, including attire, catering, photography, transportation, floristry, and entertainment.

The free showcase is scheduled for Saturday, 30 August, from 10am to 4pm at the Hilton Auckland.
