Pacific Mornings' host William Terite says Christopher Luxon will be buoyed by the jump in his preferred PM poll numbers.
An interesting poll out by 1 News last night.
According to the Verian poll, Christopher Luxon’s approval as the preferred prime minister jumped by 5 points to 28 percent. Which is interesting as it comes at a time when his coalition’s decisions have sparked plenty of debate and criticism.
So, why the boost? One possible reason is that voters might be focusing more on Luxon’s leadership style rather than the specifics of his policies. Luxon’s leadership might appeal to those looking for decisive action.
The overall polling picture shows that major party support remains mostly steady. National stayed at 38 percent, Labour increased slightly to 30 percent, and the Greens fell to 11 percent - perhaps due to the inner turmoil gripping the Greens at the moment.
Luxon’s rise might also reflect broader voter dissatisfaction with opposition leader Chris Hipkins? Who remains steady on 18 percent.
I suppose though it’s important to remember that polls only show a snapshot of current opinions and things can change quickly.
And you only need to heed the words the Prime Minister said yesterday in his speech at Koroneihana, where he said the coming months will be tense.
