A Givealittle fund for the families of three Samoan men who died in a tragic car accident last Monday has raised $58,790.

The funds donated for the families affected came from all across Aotearoa.

After the Givealittle service fee, a total of $56,167 will be distributed equally amongst the families of the victims.

Li'amanaia Lorenzo Kaisara, Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Member told Pacific Mornings that the “love and support from people who did not even know the victims” has stood out more than anything.

Watch the interview with Li'amanaia Lorenzo Kaisara below:

Kaisara who is working on behalf of the families said they have been overwhelmed with so much support, not only financially but with all the messages, comments, and phone calls directly made to them.

“They are very humbled and very appreciative of the whole country,” he said.

While the Givealittle funding page was closed in August, anyone who still wants to donate is can do so by contacting Kaisara via social media where from there they can directly give to the families.

“On behalf of the families we would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to the Givealittle page. Your donations will make a significant difference in the lives of those affected. They are grateful for your aroha, support and prayers.

“The money that’s been incredibly raised by the whole of Aotearoa just shows the unity and the power of the community when we come together,” he said.
