Experts discuss how to make Pacific countries more resilient

The Pacific Resilience Meeting focuses on building long-term strength, adaptability and sustainability of Pacific communities and ecosystems.

Experts from around the Pacific are meeting this week to discuss making the region more resilient in the face of climate change and other challenges.

The Pacific Resilience Meeting brings together people, stakeholders, and experts to discuss building long-term strength, adaptability and sustainability of Pacific communities and ecosystems.

For the first time, the Pacific Resilience Meeting is inviting people from sectors such as education and utilities such as water to ensure their adaptability and sustainability.

Project Coordinator for the Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change and Resilience project Teea Tira told Pacific Mornings it's a critical time for the region.

"We brought in some of the utilities particularly around water.

"Water security is an issue here. Our water indicators are really not as good as we would like them to be.

"Water is the essence of life - if we are not able to improve on that, how can we be resilient to any further impacts we are facing?"
