A play about the Pacific version of cheerleading will perform to a sold out crowd.
Audiences will be taken on a nostalgic ride with a Pacific theatre show version of the American cheerleading film Bring It On (2000) as curtains draw for opening night tonight.
Pring It On!, a show described as a Polyfest-parody has a sold out crowd for it's first and final nights at the Māngere Arts Centre.
PMN News caught up with arts company Strictly Brown co-founders Saale Ilaua and Leki Jackson-Bourke during a rehearsal last week.
Ilaua says the cast and crew have given everything to the company’s first project and the time and sore bodies are worth it.
“We know what the end goal is and things are slowly coming into fruition and things are really ticking and happening for us. Just really excited.”
“All the mahi that’s gone into this incredible work that’s going on behind me. It’s all feeling good but it’s crunch time now for us. We just need to be prepared and ready to go, and we are!”

Ilaua acknowledges the sacrifices, commitment and dedication it has taken to get to the stage and encourages audiences to get behind his team to support their dream.
“It’s incredibly rewarding. Leaving the whole 9 to 5 was a new thing for us, because we’ve got families that we need to support and provide for.
“To be able to do something like this, something creative, something that we really love is incredible.”
Pring It On is playing at Māngere Arts Centre until Feb 3, find tickets here.
