In an inspiring celebration of Pacific culture and creativity, Cook Islands-born model Teokotai Tupou has been crowned the ‘Face of Fusion 2026’ for the Pacific Fusion Fashion Show, marking a major milestone in her promising career.

Raised in the Cook Islands and now based in Aotearoa, Tupou's appointment coincides with the event’s 10th anniversary and its growing influence, following its first collaboration with New Zealand Fashion Week.

“Face of Fusion is someone who represents our culture, our people, and the creativity in this thing,” Tupou told PMN Cook Islands.

“The Face of Fusion title is more than just a modelling role; it is a symbolic leadership position”, placing Tupou at the forefront of campaigns and events that showcase Pacific excellence and cultural pride on major fashion stages.

Tupou, who began her modelling journey in 2022, says the moment of announcement as the new Face of Fusion was both humbling and overwhelming.

“I didn’t expect that to happen, I was excited, proud and very humbled,” she says. “It made me realise from where I first started and how far I’ve come throughout this whole journey.”

This year’s Pacific Fusion Fashion Show was particularly historic, marking the first collaboration with New Zealand Fashion Week, which provided Pasifika designers and models, including Tupou, with an unprecedented platform.

“It was a big thing for us because we can showcase our designs, our creativity, our culture,” she says. “I believe that’s why Pacific Fusion is there, to help our people get out there.”

Tupou’s selection not only represents personal growth but also reflects the support of her community. During her interview, she took a moment to acknowledge her mentors, fellow models, and her Cook Islands family.

“Without you guys, I wouldn’t have been here. Thank you for the support and love,” she says, giving special mentions to her aunties, her grandmother, and the Pacific Fusion team, including founder Nora Swann.

But it was her inspiring message to the Cook Islands and Pasifika youth that stood out the most.

“To all our young ones out there, if you have goals or dreams, just go for it. Don’t hold back,” Tupou says. “Whatever opportunities come to you, take them.”

She also shared her guiding Bible scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6, as a source of strength and direction through the highs and challenges of her journey. This verse encourages trust and faith, reminding her to stay focused and hopeful, no matter the circumstances.

As the Pacific Fusion Fashion Show prepares for its 10th season, Tupou’s role as its face promises not just style but also a hopeful voice for the next generation from the Pacific.
