Government's announcement of its alternative ferry replacement project is nothing short of an absolute shambles.
After one year the Government’s vague ferry replacement plan offers little substance, leaving more questions than solutions.
This one is close to my heart. I do care very much about the inter-islander ferry connection, so bear with me.
You're probably like, oh man, it's just a ferry but listen in, this is why it's important.
It is the extension of State Highway 1, right? It's how it's always been described.
Now the Government's recent announcement of its alternative, and I put that in air quotes, alternative ferry replacement project, frankly, is nothing short of an absolute shambles.
What was supposed to be a solution to a pretty big issue, has instead turned into a pretty confusing mess, that ultimately raises more questions than answers.
A year after scrapping the previous Government's ferry project, which yes, was expensive in itself, because of cost blowouts, due to the required port infrastructure upgrades, this new plan, headed by the Coalition, to me fails to provide any clarity or decent solution.
You got a pretty vague commitment yesterday to establish a company to procure two new vessels, which all sounds okay at first, but then this is the thing, this is the kicker, as I like to call it.
There are virtually no details to back it up. You can't make this stuff up.

They had a whole year to come up with a solution.
We get presented with a solution yesterday, arguably not a solution but more of a problem, and the details are so light, as light as a feather, truly.
Now Finance Minister Nicola Willis - boy, she's been patting herself on the back for this one - claiming she's delivered and cleaned up the previous Government's dog of a project.
Truly though, if you take a look at it, what has she delivered us?
Honestly, she has taken us from one flawed idea to another, and so there is no tangible improvement in sight for me.
So is it a win? I wouldn't say so. Is it a solution? I wouldn't say so. So it's more of a mess than ever before.
That's Will's Word.
