A new push is taking place to get young Pacific people registered to vote before this year's General Election in September.
A new push is taking place to get young Pacific people registered to vote before this year's General Election in September.
Pacific Liaison for the Electoral Commission Vaia Tony Lafotanoa told PMN News that registering all eligible Pacific voters and reminding them about the two referendums are key priorities.
"For the Pacific voice to be heard, for our communities to feel engaged, we need more of our Pacific people aware of what's happening at community, regional and national level.
"The right to vote is a fundamental right and it's important that we see more eligible voters - that's 18 and over - exercise that democratic right."
The two referendums give voters the opportunity to decide whether the recreational use of cannabis should be legal, and whether people with a terminal illness should be given the option of requesting assisted dying.
