Pacific Mornings host William Terite on why the formation of a special group, led by dairy owners to tackle retail crime, is a good move.
OPINION: New Zealand has seen a big increase in retail crime lately. To tackle this issue, the government has formed a special group led by dairy owners advocate Sunny Kaushal.
This group will focus on making things safer for the 230,000 people who work in retail.
The goal is to hear from victims, workers, and experts over the next two years. They want practical ideas to solve the problem.
Associate Justice Minister Nicole McKee said they're picking a team with the right skills to make a difference.
And you know what? It’s a great move in my opinion. It shows the government is serious about protecting people affected by retail crime.
It's a step in the right direction to make our streets and shops safer for everyone.
So I for one support these efforts to make sure everyone feels safe in their workplaces and neighbourhoods.
It's a good start towards a better future for all of us.
