Pacific Media Network is thrilled to announce the launch of new sports show ‘Pacific Grandstand’ hosted by Samoan sports guru Willie Poching.

The former head-coach of Wakefield Trinity in the Super League will be fronting Radio 531pi’s new Saturday slot that aims to showcase the talent and achievements of Pacific athletes.

“I am very honoured to be given the opportunity to bring the amazing listeners of 531pi up to date with the latest and greatest news stories involving our Pacific sports stars and teams,” Poching says.

“The Pacific is a hotbed for so many sports and so much is going on around the world and I’ll be bringing as many of these stories and results to our listeners with up to date scores along with what they can look forward to in the coming week.”

Pacific Grandstand is set to be the pulse of Pacific Sports and will serve as a vibrant hub for all things sports-related in the Pacific.

Listeners can expect a lively and engaging mix of news, commentary, interviews, and live event coverage that celebrates the sporting culture of the Pacific.

“Willie’s sporting career spans three decades so to have someone of his calibre is very exciting for us,” Programme Director Lui-Vilisoni Oliver says.

“Sports and Pacific go hand in hand, so to have someone who has worked on and off the field in sport will bring an added depth to the Pacific Grandstand show.”

The Pacific Grandstand officially debuts on Saturday 28th October 2023 from 8am-10am.

Radio 531pi broadcasts on 531kHz (Auckland Frequency), online at www.pmn.co.nz and streamed through iHeart Radio app.
